The Greater Dallas Planning Council (GDPC) will celebrate its 6th Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Omni Hotel Dallas Convention Center. Our topic is: "A New Downtown Dallas: Reshaping Urbanism and Preserving History!" Come hear our moderator and three panelists address the audience on this topic using The Statler rehabilitation as a case study.

David Preziosi, Executive Director Preservation Dallas

David PreziosiDavid Preziosi relocated to Dallas in the fall of 2012 from Mississippi where he worked for sixteen years in preservation and planning. He grew up in New Jersey and moved to Plano, Texas in high school before attending Texas A&M University. There he received a Bachelor of Environmental Design (architecture), a Master of Urban Planning, and a Historic Preservation Certificate.

After that he moved to historic Natchez, Mississippi serving as Assistant City Planner and then City Planner from 1996 to 2002. In 2002, he made the transition to the Mississippi Heritage Trust serving as Executive Director of a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic resources in Mississippi. Full bio...

Kourtny Garrett, CEO of Downtown Dallas Inc.

Kourtny GarrettKourtny Garrett serves as President & CEO of Downtown Dallas, Inc. and has been dedicated to the revitalization of Downtown Dallas in various roles since 2002. With a resume that spans 15 years in the development of livable communities, Kourtny’s passion for strong and kinetic city centers carries from Dallas to abroad.

Prior to her appointment to President & CEO, Kourtny has served as Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President, and Director of Marketing, as well as Managing Director of the Main Street District. Her primary focus of responsibilities in these roles has included the creation of strategic marketing programs for Downtown, as well as planning, government and community relations activities, and economic development. She created the Main Street Merchants Association, and played an integral role in creating the Dallas Fashion Incubator, a stand-alone 501(c)(3) organization which houses programs to train and mentor up-and-coming designers. Adam Jones, Team Leader, Principal, Merriman

Adam JonesAdam Jones’ varied experience includes educational, hospitality, religious, office, retail, military, and sports facilities throughout the United States with primary focus on renovation projects. Adam has been lead on many historic adaptive re-use projects contributing to the revitalization of Downtown Dallas.

Mr. Jones spent several years in Chicago directing the restoration and repurpose of multiple 1906 Beaux Arts buildings at the Naval Station, Great Lakes, Illinois for the Department of Defense.

In Dallas, Adam led the renovation of the Anatole Hotel which entailed the addition of three restaurants, two meeting spaces, the renovation of the nationally acclaimed Nana Restaurant, and the conversion of the Atrium and entry spaces into an architectural, landscaped garden. Adam also directed the renovation of several 1950’s buildings for Bell Helicopter as part of the company’s overhaul of their entire corporate campus in Fort Worth.

Over the last several years, Adam has been involved in the restoration of many historic buildings in the Downtown Dallas core including the Lone Star Gas Buildings, LTV Tower, Tower Petroleum Building, 1712 Commerce, Old Dallas Central Library, and the Statler. Full bio...

Rachel L. Roberts, Director of Branding and Marketing Centurion American Asset Management - The Statler

Rachel RobertsWith over 15 years of leadership experience in the high-end service industry, Rachel casts bold, transformative visions implemented through detailed execution.

She has served as a consultant for multiple downtown Dallas developments and organizations offering strategy on brand renewal and community organizing.

Previously, Rachel worked in brand management for Equinox, a New York based luxury fitness company. Rachel has her Masters in Theology from S.M.U.
