Overall, the GDPC Task Forces address fundamental issues for the built form of the region – Transportation, Water, Urban Design, Economic Development and Education. They are all interrelated and according to the mission of the GDPC, should be viewed through the lens of sustainability. They must result in creating a more attractive environment, while being safe and energy efficient in both construction and long term operation.
Working groups centered on six designated task force subjects meet regularly to discuss high priority issues. Current board members undertake the challenge of chairing a taskforce committee annually, which includes encouraging both member and nonmember contributions on relevant issues. The council plans its breakfast and "lunch & learn" program speakers centered on task force committee recommendations.
Task force committee work results in membership resolutions for action submitted to the Texas Legislature and/or the media and the general public.
