President’s Message
This year we celebrate 80 years of excellence and contributions to shaping a great Dallas. We have been the leading planning organization in North Texas for eight decades, and we are proud of the part we have played in the planning and developing of this great city and region. Each year, we continue to engage various industries and professionals to drive new planning and development for the city of Dallas. We continue to advocate issues that are important to the people we serve and on issues that will have a positive impact on the future of Dallas and the region.
We expect 2026 to be another notable year as we continue to implement our 2024–2026 Strategic Plan and guide the organization to new heights. Our dynamic and diverse Executive Team and Board of Directors include professionals and leaders from across the industry. Our incoming Board is ready to contribute their time so that the GDPC can continue making meaningful changes to the greater Dallas region.
The GDPC has also committed to advocating three major issues to help guide the future of Dallas: housing, water, and public transportation policy. We have an ambitious schedule of meetings and events planned that will engage leaders and decision-makers on these important issues.
More specifically, we plan to advocate for other issues that are important to the city of Dallas’s future, including but not limited to:
2026 FIFA World Cup
AI Technology
Dallas Housing Initiative, “HouseDTX”
Dallas Love Feld Airport Master Plan Implementation
DART System Modernization
Deck Parks, Community Parks, Green Space, and City/Regional Trails
DFW International Airport Expansion Program
Equitable Planning and Design
Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) Master Plan Implementation
NCTCOG Transit 2.0
Regionalism vs. Urbanism
Southwest Medical District Master Plan
Water Public Policy
Zoning and Development Policy
Our 2026 program schedule will be released soon so that you may plan your participation. You also can take part in our efforts by engaging in these critical topics and issues. You can do so by joining one of our task forces: Mobility, Urban Design, Environmental, or Technology & Innovation. These task forces provide a forum for hands-on involvement that will impact decision-making on these issues. We encourage you to get involved and make a difference by contacting any of our task force chairs to learn more about their meetings and events.
The GDPC has been able to thrive all these years because of the support of our members and corporate partners. Your involvement, as well as those of our new supporters, helps drive and shape the creation of a better city. Your support is essential. I hope you will renew your membership or join the GDPC as a new member so we can work together to be a voice in our community’s future.
We wish each of you a prosperous and successful year in 2026.
Ruben Landa,
GDPC President
